We are a producer of exotic mushrooms and many varieties of nut trees. Our project was to clear trees and stumps so we could expand our operation. Prior to the job being started, Geoff and I had talked in depth about my specific preferences of which trees to cut or not and the irregular area I wanted cleared. I was planning on being there during the project to help remind him about the specifics but I tore a ligament in my ankle right as the work was being started. I was worried things would not be completed to my specifications without clear reminders but much to my surprise the job was completed extremely well. By my calculation it would have cost me about the same amount of money in my own labor but would have taken me over 2 months to do what took him 3 days. Very worth it!"
I will be talking with him next year to come back for more mulching. His services and attention to my preferences exceeded expectations!
-- J. Markston - White River Junction VT
Geoffrey and his clearing machine are amazing....he is able to clear the land with efficiency and extreme thoroughness. I was beyond delighted with the work and how the property was left. Any other contractor would not have been able to do this sort of work at this level. I HIGHLY recommend him.
-- D. Culbertson - Spear Cemetery Rd - Reading VT
Saw Geoffrey, Beech Hill Vegetation, working on a large and heavily wooded property near my home. I was fascinated at the amount of clearing in such a short time. I asked about his clearing about 35 stumps from my property and agreed to hire his services. The 35 stumps disappeared so quickly that I asked him to keep going on other parts of my property until about 160 stumps were cleared and my property began resembling a country club. I was (and still am) amazed at the transformation of my property and have more improvement plans for next spring.

Beech Hill Vegetation has done 6 projects for me and in each case a great job. One in particular was the cleaning up of our steep hill side behind our house. It’s average slope in excess of 25 degrees. Beech Hill Vegetation was recommended with a lot of skepticism on my part after a lot of failure with other groups. I was truly amazed. No other equipment can come close to his Ventrac Slope Mower. Highly Recommended.

Geoff has been providing services to us for over eight years. From the installation of a deer / predator fence keeping our pets safe to allowing us to keep our landscape free of the endless chewing. We can grow a real garden because of his fence. He does routine maintenance for invasive species with our latest project to grind at least fourteen 6"-12" stumps and mulch countless fallen dead trees in our surrounding woods. We can not recommend him enough.

Geoff is a unique individual with his company offering great service. He is a forward thinker with a an eye for perfection. We have known Geoff for 14 years and used his services for 12 of those years. He started in vegetation protection systems. The prevention of deer infestation on your property. For us he designed and built a protective system which not only protects our critters, but allows me to grow a very exotic garden. He built a fence which was architecturally pleasing which melds into the environment transitions/integrates to other fences seamlessly. Matt’s biggest concern was seeing a fence, but his fence is nearly invisible. Matt really liked this aspect. Geoff continues to exceed expectations. We would highly recommend him. He is ever expanding drawing on over 40 years of land management and stewardship.

We are a working farm consisting of 300 acres with 250 acres in sugar maple production and a managed forest under land use. Beech Hill Vegetation's responsibilities are to keep the remaining 50 acres of pasture mowed. Within the forest they maintain all cross country ski trails, logging roads & walking trails. It is a yearly process on the ever encroaching forest growth. The past several season have been a real challenge especially with the extremely wet seasons. Fortunately BHV added to their fleet a unique slope mowing tractor which has tremendous float and the ability to transverse the steepest of terrain. We are grateful for their service and keeping our property beautiful.

We are in VT current land use and with it our farm is both an equestrian haven and a managed wood lot. Per the land use requirements we must follow a plan to stay current and compliant. For us we were up for a wood harvesting. What was left after the work was done, left me full of tears. I searched three years until I came upon Beech Hill Vegetation, not only did they meet all my criteria, but they exceeded it too. Geoffrey and his crew removed dead falls, snags, dead trees and loads of slash. Additionally they restored my trails and created a new one. I highly recommend Geoffrey & Wayne, they are most proficient in what they do and returned my land to what it was.

Echoing a recent posting on Front Porch Forun about Geoffrey and Beech Hill Vegetation , I would recomend this service to anyone whose wooded lands have become overgrown or unusable. Geoffrey has completed his second job for us and we are most pleased with his ability to turn snags and deadfalls Into something we can enjoy and use.

Property Enhancements at Winter Discounts. My note here, Front Porch Forum, is a nod to Geoffrey and Beech Hill Vegetation. He was great to work with and delivered as promised. He cleared loads of old scrub and slash in no time at all. We thought we would have to wait until spring to do this project, but Geoffrey assured us that winter was one of the best times to work. With the ground frozen he was able to traverse our lawn with no damage. This is a great machine and a fantastic local business . I heartily endorse Geoffrey and Beech Hill Vegetation for tree , brush and land clearing on your land.

Demonstration Days - Were all put on hold for 2020 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. A vaccine and boosters are in hand.and COVID although still present is not the threat it once was if we get vaccinated. There will be a demonstration day starting again in 2024. Our equipment is new and state of the art in the art of mastication (forestry mulching).
We provide live demonstrations of our services every year with the last being 2020 demonstrations being a great success. For the ones who missed us hopefully you will join us this year 2024.
We are looking to educated our neighbors and surrounding farms showing the benefits of an Eco-friendly clearing clearing process using mobile technology vs. the traditional slash and burn techniques.
Like 2019 we are planning demonstration days again for 2022+.
For property which is forested in the state of Vermont the land owner has choices with one of these choices choosing to put his or her property into a category called "current land use" whereby the tax burden is reduced because the property is being utilized in part for agricultural purposes. For this, there are guidelines to be followed with some coming under the category of land Clearing. In forestry, the land owner is required to use a registered forester who draws up a plan. The plan describes how this parcel is to be maintained with periodic harvesting of timber as part of this plan. It is the aftermath of this process where the land owner is left disappointed. The disappointment is with the harvesting process. Speak to any logging operation and their primary goal is to get in and out as quickly as possible. This process follows our close analogy of the home owner who utilized a lawn service. The lawn service cuts your grass, does a quick trim and blow then departs your property. But the job is far from complete, the weeds on the walkway or in the garden/flower beds still need to be removed and the bushes need pruning. The same can be said of the logging operation the aftermath is a less than pristine. It is here the land owner is seeking help. As a forestry consultant we specialize in the harvesting aftermath.
The most frequently asked questions are:
1. After we have had our property logged how do we get rid of the stumps and left behind slash piles, dead falls, damaged trees and trees not harvested without incurring more unsightly damage?
2. Can it be done economically?
3. Are there any methods which provide a ecologically friendly process which does not include slash and burn?
The answer to all these questions and more is Yes. Please contact us and we would be more than happy to schedule a site visit , outline our methods & processes as well as the sustainability and cost benefits.
